Moss Landing was the light at the end of the tunnel! Moving from the rain to the sea and spending time with Jennifer and her wonderful husband, Steve, was so refreshing and relaxing, even with all the rowing. The kayak trip down the inlet was great exercise. Steve insists we only won because of the shape of our kayak…hum, he didn’t take into account the length of Lutz’s arms. We spent some time camping and watching the sunset each night. We met Steve’s brother and his wife who share military connections. They will remain great friends. We had one last hug and kiss with my mom and Jack in San Louis Obispo before we headed off over the dry desolate road to exciting Bakersfield. Yes, exciting! Check out our next post to see what we experienced in this unique part of the world!

I'm Melinda Stevens and living the life of a beach bum was inevitable since my father was a lifeguard for the city of Los Angeles. My memories of growing up on John Street in Manhattan Beach, California were filled with joy, excitement and adventures; until my world, as I knew it, fell apart when we moved to Del Mar, California. My father was offered the position as Captain of the lifeguards and we started the slow migration to the small deserted stretch of beach in 1963. At twelve years old, this seemed like the end of my life. Remember, I’m writing with clear hindsight now, ok somewhat clearer… Little did I know this would be the beginning of a new journey and give a bit more clarity to many of the events that led me to this new cooking adventure.
