Functional Doctor in Kaiserslautern

Functional Doctor in Kaiserslautern

Locating a functional doctor in the USA is pretty easy to do, but you might have to give up a kidney to pay for the appointment. Finding a functional doctor overseas can be just as challenging. But as luck would have it (now that I am moving), I finally found one in Kaiserslautern and was able to spend a few hours with him discussing his philosophy and approach to healing. Dr. Gersch is a German doctor with an extensive medical professional background as an anesthesiologist, emergency medical doctor, and Family Physician.

His passion is to help those find the root cause of existing illnesses and, more importantly, provide an individually tailored path for prevention. He speaks German and English and works with teens and children as well. I love his quote in his handbook for patients “This manual is intended to introduce you to the basic knowledge that I believe every person should have to be healthy. I’m not interested in any ideologies (keto, paleo, low fat, vegan, etc.). It is only about facts, study data, and recommendations to the best of my knowledge and belief.” What else could you ask for!

Here are a few things I talked to him about:

  1. Is this service affordable? YES! Since German doctors have a set fee for private insurance and Krankenverscherung, you won’t be ripped off. His prices are fair and reasonable. Most private international insurance companies only cover a twenty-minute consultation, so you might have to pay a portion for longer consultation visits, but the fees are reasonable, as I said. It’s best to talk with Dr. Gersch personally.
  2. Does he do bloodwork? Yes, and Dr. Gersch works with laboratories in town.
  3. How does the first appointment work? You will be filling out a thorough information sheet that he will truly look at and read! Basically, an hour discussion regarding your needs, then possible bloodwork, examination, or homework!  He also provides you with a booklet that explains the basic knowledge necessary for better health.
  4. What about payment plans? Several options are available depending on your need. One option is a 175 euro a year that provides quite a few benefits such as staffed office calls 24/7! I’m sure Dr. Gersch will work with you to find a comfortable plan that works with you and meets your insurance needs.
  5. Military insurance covers most of the appointment fees; however, you will need to pay first and send the bill and receipt into your insurance yourself.

Here is his contact information, and I strongly suggest if you’re ready to take back your health and get on the right track, this is a great opportunity and a wonderful place to start!
