Traveling seems to suit me, and I’m really enjoying the extra time to see the world now with retirement. Spent a morning at the doctors getting my knee checked out and decided that knee replacement will have to wait!!! Although foggy in the AM, California never fails to brighten up by 1 pm with warm sun, and we make sure to make a trip to the sea. The remodel continues with a new TV and arm so we can adjust the screen…too bad no cable or wifi… but we are ready when it is available. So great to get updated pictures of Frederik, Lutz’s grandson. He is beautiful, and his parents, Anne and Philipp, are amazing. He is very blessed to have them and an Opa that loves him so!
2016 September 19: Still enjoying the good life

I'm Melinda Stevens and living the life of a beach bum was inevitable since my father was a lifeguard for the city of Los Angeles. My memories of growing up on John Street in Manhattan Beach, California were filled with joy, excitement and adventures; until my world, as I knew it, fell apart when we moved to Del Mar, California. My father was offered the position as Captain of the lifeguards and we started the slow migration to the small deserted stretch of beach in 1963. At twelve years old, this seemed like the end of my life. Remember, I’m writing with clear hindsight now, ok somewhat clearer… Little did I know this would be the beginning of a new journey and give a bit more clarity to many of the events that led me to this new cooking adventure.

Melinda, So glad that you are enjoying retirement! Great photos! Where in California are you now?

Thanks for the note Mary! We have been in San Luis Obispo since September 6th and head to Malibu for a wedding Friday-Saturday. Then we will head north to Washington to visit my son. Looking forward to camping out in the trees!
