I’ve had plenty of time to relax and read these last few days in the USA. I’ve come down with a cold the day before New Year’s, and my motivation is pretty low. After reading Akansha’s article, I had a little more energy to think about the new year and what I’d like to accomplish. On her site, Plum Healthy Fine, she has posted a unique bucket list for 2026. These ideas aren’t your typical bucket-list suggestions. Many are challenging and need some consideration, like taking a trip alone! I’m going to add a few to my year and see if I can accomplish at least five. There are fifty-one suggestions, so you have a few to select from! Wishing you the best year ever and hope these ideas propel you into a wonderful year of discovery!
Here’s one of her suggestions. I have already started 2025, and I so enjoy the friends I’ve made… take a pottery class.

I'm Melinda Stevens and living the life of a beach bum was inevitable since my father was a lifeguard for the city of Los Angeles. My memories of growing up on John Street in Manhattan Beach, California were filled with joy, excitement and adventures; until my world, as I knew it, fell apart when we moved to Del Mar, California. My father was offered the position as Captain of the lifeguards and we started the slow migration to the small deserted stretch of beach in 1963. At twelve years old, this seemed like the end of my life. Remember, I’m writing with clear hindsight now, ok somewhat clearer… Little did I know this would be the beginning of a new journey and give a bit more clarity to many of the events that led me to this new cooking adventure.
