If you’ve thought about doing a 30 Day no sugar cleanse I suggest you read this first. It’s an article written by Adda Bjarnadottir MS, LN one of the writers for the Healthline website. This is a concise, short, simple, and direct article about hidden sugars in many foods I suspect are sitting on your shelf right now! When I started this journey in 2014 I sat on my kitchen floor with every jar, can, and bag and box of processed foods even all my spices. I began throwing out those groceries with added sugar. It took me a while to figure out that many of those items I kept had other hidden sugars. I wish I had had this article then! Click here to read the above article and get a list of hidden sugars on your food labels. It’s pretty enlightening.
Actually, this whole site is really cool. It has researched based answers to many nutrition, life, and health questions. The search icon is really easy and pulls up a few choice titles. I would highly recommend this site. Grab a glass of bubble water and lime and relax and read. Check it out and let me know what you think. Click here if you’d like to check out the Healthline site.

I'm Melinda Stevens and living the life of a beach bum was inevitable since my father was a lifeguard for the city of Los Angeles. My memories of growing up on John Street in Manhattan Beach, California were filled with joy, excitement and adventures; until my world, as I knew it, fell apart when we moved to Del Mar, California. My father was offered the position as Captain of the lifeguards and we started the slow migration to the small deserted stretch of beach in 1963. At twelve years old, this seemed like the end of my life. Remember, I’m writing with clear hindsight now, ok somewhat clearer… Little did I know this would be the beginning of a new journey and give a bit more clarity to many of the events that led me to this new cooking adventure.
